Cruising from Bali to Darwin on Viking Venus
First impressions
Check-in at the port was quick and seamless—a great start to the journey. From the very beginning, the staff were warm, welcoming, and made us feel right at home. Viking Venus is a stunning ship with a modern and inviting Scandinavian design. Every detail on board feels thoughtfully crafted to make the journey as comfortable and enjoyable as possible.
Life onboard Viking Venus
Days aboard Viking Venus were as enriching as they were relaxing. Throughout the day, there was a variety of expert-led lectures and destination talks, along with evening entertainment ranging from live music to trivia nights (always a highlight for us!). For quieter moments, we found ourselves at the chess tables for a friendly match or simply soaking in the atmosphere. But our favourite part of the daily routine quickly became time in the Nordic Spa. Moving between the steam room, snow grotto, and hot spa was the perfect way to rejuvenate and unwind.
Dining
Dining aboard Viking Venus was consistently impressive, with standout experiences in the specialty restaurants. At Manfredi’s, we enjoyed what was likely the best steak we’ve ever had at sea—and although we were completely full, we somehow still found room for a scoop of their delicious gelato! The Chef’s Table is a foodie’s dream. The multi-course tasting menu is thoughtfully crafted, with each dish paired perfectly with wine. Each course is introduced by the staff, who explain how the flavours complement one another.
Destination Highlights
A true highlight was visiting Komodo National Park, where we had the chance to see the legendary Komodo dragons up close. In Darwin, we enjoyed a sunset dinner cruise, wandered along the harbour, and visited Crocosaurus Cove to meet some of Australia’s largest saltwater crocodiles.
Viking Difference
The Viking difference was clear the moment we stepped onboard. The smaller ship size creates a more intimate atmosphere, with personalised service from a crew who genuinely took the time to get to know us. Viking’s onboard enrichment programs add depth to the journey through expert talks and cultural experiences. Plus, the no kids and no casinos makes for a truly peaceful atmosphere.
